Innovation and Entrepreneurship Faculty Fellows Program

Fellowship

The GW Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OIE) seeks to advance innovation and entrepreneurship across George Washington University.  Its efforts are intended to infuse the entrepreneurial mindset as a way to think, learn and succeed for all students regardless of major.  One key initiative of OIE is to support the creation of courses in innovation and entrepreneurship across the curriculum at GW in order to provide students with multiple pathways to engage, apply and expand innovation, design and entrepreneurship attuned to their personal level of interest and career aspirations.

While the GW School of Business offers a good range of courses in innovation and entrepreneurship, the rest of the schools have only a few relevant courses tailored to their respective disciplines.  In this light, OIE is proposing to create the GW Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fellows (GWIEF) Program.

The GWIEF program will recruit faculty (the Fellows) from across campus who are interested in bringing more creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship into the curriculum in their respective departments.  In conjunction with the Deans and Chairs, the GWIEF program will provide funding, training and a network of support services to the Fellows.

Program Details

The GWIEF is an initiative of the Office of the Vice President for Research and the Office of the Provost.  It is open to all full-time (tenure track, teaching track and clinical) faculty across all the schools at GW.  To become a Fellow, a faculty member must:

  • propose a new course or a course modification that introduces creativity, innovation, design thinking or entrepreneurship into the curriculum;
  • commit to delivering the course in each of the next two academic years;
  • obtain a letter of support from their respective Dean and Chair.

Fellows will receive a one-time summer salary supplement of $5,000 for course development, and they are eligible to apply for supplemental funds (up to $1,000 per year) for course delivery.
