2020 GW Summer Startup Accelerator (GWSSA)

What Is Required of the Ventures

What is required of the team

To qualify for the GW Summer Startup Accelerator, ventures must meet the following requirements:

  • Teams must be actively working on a venture creating technological, social, commercial, or cultural value;
  • 2 - 4 founders or management-level teammates are available to work in the GW Summer Startup Accelerator, in the GWSSA co-working space, full-time for the 9 weeks of the program;
  • A majority of the team members must be GW students or recent graduates (graduated within the last 3 years.)

During the program, the ventures are expected to participate in weekly workshops and group instructional programming and to meet each week with mentors and the teaching team.

Participants are obliged to reside in the GWSSA-provided housing at least 5 days per week so as to optimize productive interactions with other participants in the program.

During the nine weeks of the GWSSA, the team’s venture should be their primary professional focus. For example, taking or teaching a class, serving as a resident advisor (RA), or having an internship would significantly disrupt and be incompatible with a team’s focus on launching or scaling the venture.
